RC's Dr Anna Kepas-Suwara participates in first live webinar

One of our staff participated in Rubber Consultants’ first live webinar in 2015. Dr Anna Kepas-Suwara co-present ed Oxford Instruments Asylum Research webinar 'Beyond Topography: New Advances in AFM Characterization of Polymers' Webinar on 28th May. Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) is a method of visualising surfaces by using the forces between atoms. As part of the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre, the consultancy services are at the forefront of the use of this technique for rubber materials. It has been employed on rubber compounds for a wide range of purposes. The webinar is now on-demand on the Oxford Instruments website: www.oxford-instruments.com/businesses/nanotechnology-tools/asylum-research/webinars.

Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) is a method of visualising surfaces by using the forces between atoms. Rubber Consultants is at the forefront of the use of this technique for rubber materials. It has been employed on rubber compounds for a wide range of purposes:

  • producing a force-extension curve for a single polymer chain
  • observation of filler distribution in rubber
  • investigation of morphology of rubber blends
  • characterisation of elastomers using nanoindentation
