The North European International Rubber Conference & Exhibition 2005The North European International Rubber Conference (IRC 2005) was held between 7th - 9th June 2005 at MECC Maastrict, The Netherlands. There was also an exhibition that ran alongside the conference.

IRC 2005 - 'Creating Value Throughout the Supply Chain' addressed many of the concerns facing the rubber world in a changing economic climate and a time of change and transition for raw materials suppliers, polymer converters, process and test equipment suppliers and major end users. One of the main aims of the meeting was to create discussion and debate between the different parties invloved from varying view points, whether it was from a commercial aspect, business process improvement or to the technical and academic research needs that lay the foundations for the future.

Rubber Consultants' involvement at IRC 2005 started with Dr Andrew Tinker, who was also Chairman of the Organising Committee, officially opening the Conference on Tuesday 7th June.

Rubber Consultants also had five papers presented over the three-day Conference. (Check the programme for dates and times)

'Recovery and fatigue properties of NRTPV' - Dr S. Cook, J. Patel, Dr A. Tinker

'Initiation of failure of rubber close to bondlines' - Dr J. Gough, Dr A. Muhr

'The role of zinc in the vulcanisation of styrene-butadiene rubbers' - Dr A. Chapman, Dr T. Johnson

'Properties of clay/rubber components' - Dr S. Cook, Dr T. Johnson, D. Lowe

Dr Keith Fuller, RC's Head of Engineering Product & Design Division, also Chaired 'Session 3B: Modelling for Cost Reduction', in the afternoon on Wednesday 8th June.

IRC 2005 was organised by IOM Communications Ltd on behalf of The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining in the UK, the BPRI in Belgium and VKRT in The Netherlands. The exhibition was organised by Crain Communications and IPI Promotions.
